What is required of me?
For our certified training in Competitive Systems and Practices (MSS30316 Certificate III in Competitive Systems and Practices, MSS40316 Certificate IV in Competitive Systems and Practices & MSS50316 Diploma of Competitive Systems and Practices), you will need an organisation that you can work in for your projects. You will need to demonstrate competence, by implementing the Lean Six Sigma principles that we teach you.
Time commitment varies based on your level of aptitude and ability to achieve change in your business. For the certified courses formal contact time is 8 hours per month. You will also require around 4 hours each week in order to implement Lean Six Sigma practices in your organisation however, this can often form part of your normal work week as you are productively improving processes in your business.
So how does it work?
Students can complete targeted individual subjects or undertake certificate III, IV or Diploma Lean Six Sigma courses. The subjects typically run over a 3 week period*. Each month you get a day long group class. In this time we will present the theory and answer your questions.
Extra Requirements for Certification
To pass a certified subject you will need to
-
Pass an online quiz
-
Complete a project – These are all “real” projects performed in an organisation. You collect evidence as per our project checklist and then upload to the student portal.
-
Have the manager for the area\business that you worked to improve verify that you did the project
You can complete the theory component of the course relatively quickly. The projects however require you to work in a business and change the way it works. This is currently taking our face to face students 10-12 months.
As an example of the subjects required to complete the MSS40316 Certificate IV in Competitive Systems and Practices you would have to complete the following:
4HR (Leading Change and Visual Performance Management)*
MSS403001 Implement competitive systems and practices
MSS403010 Facilitate change in an organisation implementing competitive systems and practices
MSS403002 Ensure process improvements are sustained
MSS403011 Facilitate implementation of competitive systems and practices
MSMENV472 Implement & monitor environmentally sustainable work practices
MSS403033 Map an operational process
MSS403040 Facilitate and improve implementation of 5S
Problem Solving and Root cause Analysis**

MSS402080 Undertake root cause analysis
MSS403051 Mistake proof an operational process
MSS403030 Improve cost factors in work practices
MSS403041 Facilitate breakthrough improvements
* Our 4HR (Leading Change and Visual Performance Management) unit is billed as the equivalent of 2 subjects
** Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis is 2 units for the Cert IV & III but we treat it as one subject
Workshop Facilitation and Training
Efficiency Works utilises experienced and qualified trainers for all workshops and training courses. All trainers hold a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40110), a qualification that reflects the roles of trainers in the vocational educational and training (VET) sector, and a requirement of the Australian Quality Training Framework for a structured VET program.
Our trainers utilise a collaborative approach that quickly engages with students, and challenges thinking, transfers knowledge and builds skills. The trainer utilises a combination of theory, learning exercises, visual aids and group discussion to ensure that students are fully engaged over the duration of the training.
